Infants101

So... I skipped all of April but i never took a break from photos. Here are a few baby pics I've taken! Its always fun to photograph babies because they just don't care... They haven't learned to hide their eyes or turn their head!

10 mile hike - Whiteface Mountain

So Sunday was an amazing day to get out and that's exactly what I did! Whiteface Mountain is fairly close to where I live so a couple friends and I thought we'd take our skis and go on up. It looked like there was enough snow at the bottom, but we quickly found it was more ice / packed snow / patches of pavement all the way up! We skied for the first couple miles, then carried the skis to the top. On our way down we skied a couple miles down and then walked the rest of the way. There was a road going up the whole length of the mountain. windy and gradual so it wasn't like we were going over boulders and streams. Still though, 10 mile round trip... Here are a few pics of the day.

Here you are looking down toward the smaller portion of the mountain known as 'Little Whiteface' which is a well known ski area. They have lifts and a gondola going to the top of the smaller peak. Many wish they'd just go all the way to the top, but... they didn't.

This is the top of the stairway at the summit. You first get to a miniature castle which acts as a gateway to the peak. you take a set of stairs a quarter mile up and you are there. I would suggest summer over winter for this, they can get quite icy, I held onto the railing all the way up, it would be a long way down!

This is what you see when you get to the top. It acts as a weather observatory for most of the year. Allowing tourists to walk through in the summertime.

We wanted to make it down before dark but that didn't happen. So, I got to take a few photos of the sunset! :)

I figured I would give a contrast to the earlier photo, this is the same place, just obviously different seasons. its amazing how different the scenes can look!

Beaver Pond in the Mountains

Here is the first post. If you haven't read my profile yet, my name is John. I'm from the Adirondacks of Upstate New York, probably one of the most photographic places on the east coast! Hopefully I won't butcher the looks but you will see a lot of photos like you see above in the days, weeks, and months to come. It won't just be nature, you will get a wide variety of photos, but the majority will be green, blue and natural (nature). I enjoy portraitures so you can look for those as well. Enjoy!
